General Information

Audacity is free, open source software for recording and editing sounds. It is available for Mac OS X, Microsoft Windows, GNU/Linux, and other operating systems.

Pre-Installation Notes

System Requirements: Windows XP or higher, Mac OS X, or Linux

NOTE: After installing and running the program for the first time on a Windows computer, you are able to record input audio. However, the files must be saved as mp3 to work in the widest range of devices. To do this after you are done recording, go to the File menu, and click Export as mp3. It will ask you to find the lame mp3 codec, which is located in C:\Program Files\Audacity\Plug-Ins folder. After you link the file you can now export audio files as mp3 files.
