Moodle: Blocks: Moodle Mail Block (Faculty)
The Moodle Mail block allows users to email one or more participants of a course. In this block, instructors can compose emails, set up their signatures, view drafts and history, set alternate emails, and configure the settings.
Moodle Mail Block (Faculty)
The Moodle Mail Block allows the instructor to have all composing and editing options for email all in the same place.
Details on Each Link:
-
Alternate Emails: Set up an alternate email to direct mail from that address instead of the course email address.
-
Create Notifications: Create automated notifications and set the rules by which they operate.
Making Moodle Mail Unavailable to Students:
Instructors can change the settings in Moodle Mail to restrict students from sending email through the course. If disabled, students will see the Moodle Mail block in their course, but will not be able to use it. They will have to use LSU mail or other email service instead. This setting is found in the Moodle Mail Configuration menu.
- Login to Moodle and select your course.
- Locate the Moodle Mail block on the Moodle course page and click on the Configuration button.
- Use the drop down box to specify whether or not you wish to allow students to use Moodle Mail. Instructors can also use the Selectable roles to limit the ability of TA's, guest instructors, etc. to use Moodle Mail.
- When you are done, click the Save preferences button.

Instructors can give the following GROK article to students as a resource: Moodle Mail Block (Students)
