Panopto: Students Unable to Submit a Panopto Video

In some instances, students find that they are unable to correctly embed and submit their Panopto assignments within Moodle. The videos actually do successfully appear in the instructor's Panopto assignment folder, but they do not appear correctly within Moodle. This article will walk you through a workaround as we work to resolve the overarching issue.

To Use the Workaround for Submitting Panopto Student Assignments:

  1. Once you have either recorded your assignment video or uploaded it and are now seeing your video embedded in the submission window, click the diagonal arrow seen at the bottom of your video.
    Panopto diagonal arrow button

  2. You should now be viewing your video within LSU's main Panopto site (lsu.hosted.panopto.com). Click the Share button found at the top right hand side.
    Share button

  3. You should now be viewing your video's Share settings. From here, click the tab on the left hand side labeled Overview.
    Panopto overview panel selection

  4. You should now see a field labeled Viewer link. Click in this field and it will highlight the text. Press Ctrl + C (or right click and select Copy).

  5. You can now close this window and return to Moodle to your assignment submission. Now, Paste the viewer link you just copied into the submission field by either pressing Ctrl + V or right clicking and selecting Paste. If your link text appears correctly, you may now submit your assignment by clicking Save changes.

  6. Now, even if the embedded video does not appear to your instructor in the assignment submissions, they will still be able to access and grade your submitted content.
