Moodle: Activities & Resources: External Tools: ALEKS

The ALEKS external tool allows instructors to connect their Moodle course to the ALEKS platform, providing students access to the ALEKS personalized learning path in Math, Chemistry, Statistics, or Accounting. Once linked, students can access assignments directly from within Moodle, and their grades will sync back automatically.
 
A note about support: Because the external tool activity links your Moodle course to an external website, most issues encountered in this tool should be troubleshot through ALEKS Support or your designated ALEKS representative. The LSU Faculty Technology Center can assist with any Moodle issues and coordinate with the tool’s support team on Moodle-related gradebook sync concerns.
 

To Add the ALEKS Activity:

  1. Follow the steps in Activities & Resources: Add an External Tool and select ALEKS from the Preconfigured tool drop-down list.
     
  2. Enter an Activity name.
    Note: In the Privacy section the site level "Accept grades from the tool" has been unchecked, as ALEKS does not use this method for grade synchronization.
     
  3. Click Save and display. Click the open in new window link.
     
  4. Follow the setup process to create and connect your ALEKS course to your Moodle course. Once in the ALEKS course, informational prompts will guide you through the remaining setup, including syncing the gradebook and deep linking to activities in Moodle.
