This article contains some tips on how one may want to troubleshoot network problems on an Android phone. If you are having trouble connecting to the WiFi network try the following the solutions.

Clear Security Certificates

Go to Settings, Select Security, Select Clear All Credentials.  Re-connect to eduroam.

Reset WiFi Connection

The first thing to try if the network isn't working, is to Go to Settings, and turn off the WiFi, and then turn it back on. Sometimes, that's all it takes.

Restart Device

Sometimes the best thing to do when a feature isn't working to allow the device to reboot. To do this, power down the phone, and remove the battery. Wait about thirty seconds before putting the battery back in, and powering the device up. After it boots, retry connecting to eduroam.

Reconnect to eduroam

Try just adding eduroam back onto network list. This can help by correcting any typo in login id, password, or incorrect settings that may be preventing connection. The following steps will show you how to do this:

1. Open Settings & tap Wi-Fi.

Android home screen

2. Under Wi-Fi networks you will see a list of available networks.  Tap eduroam, if it is listed.

(NOTE: If you do not see eduroam, proceed to manual configuration)

4. In the pull down menu of 'Phase 2 authentication', select 'MSCHAPV2'.

5. Scroll past CA certificate and Client certificate. (In some phones we have found that setting these two options to N/A works)

6. In the 'Identity' field enter your [PAWS ID].  (Ex.  mtiger1@lsu.edu)

NOTE: Enter your PAWS credentials in the form <PAWS ID>@lsu.edu. If you do not do this, you WILL receive an error message.

7. Skip the 'Anonymous identity' field.

8. In the password field enter your PAWS password.

(If your cursor is stuck at 'Identity', click "next" on your keypad twice to get to 'Password'.

9. Tap Connect.

(The account settings, including username/password are now saved and you will connect automatically when 'eduroam' is in range.)
