Mobile devices, such as smart phones and tablets, come with various Apps that can access your LSUMail account.  Depending on the App, they will use different methods to get to your mailbox.

Methods to Access LSUMail  (Types of E-mail Apps)

Method 1:  Apps that use the ActiveSync Protocol   (Recommended)

Apps that use the ActiveSync Protocol are the BEST apps to use for LSUMail since they DO SYNC your email, contacts, & calendar entries between the phone and the mail server.

  • ActiveSync Apps may be called Corporate or Exchange Mail, depending on the type of phone.

  • Phones that Support ActiveSync:

Method 2:  A Web Browser that Supports JavaScript   (No Configuration Needed)

A web browser that supports JavaScript is the easiest way to connect to your LSUMail.  This method DOES NOT require any configuration.  (You may have to resize the screen to fit your needs.)

  • Open a web browser that supports JavaScript, and browse to:
  • Sign in with your LSUMail email address & your LSUMail password.

Warning Message:  If your web browser DOES NOT support JavaScript, you will receive the following warning message:   "You can download another internet browser for your mobile device and try it."

Method 3:  Apps that Support the IMAP Protocol

Apps that use IMAP are typically already installed on your mobile devices, however you can also download apps that support IMAP.

  • Apps that use the IMAP Protocol DO NOT SYNC your email, contacts, & calendar entries between the phone and the mail server.
  • Get your IMAP and SMTP Settings.  Write this information down and have it on hand when you configure your IMAP Email App.
  • General Information:  (IMAP Apps may all be slightly different)
    • Use your LSU Email Address as the Username.
    • Use the IMAP Settings Information, obtained previously, to guide you in configuring the Mail Server.
    • Use the  SMTP Settings Information, obtained previously, to set up the Relay, Outgoing or SMTP Server.
    • Use your LSUMail password and NOT your PAWS password.
