General Information

Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) provides automated backup of client systems' data to a central storage server. It offers automated data protection that can help reduce the risks associated with data loss. Backups occur overnight during various time slots over the LSU campus network. TSM enables users to protect their organization’s data from failures and other errors by storing backup data. By perpetual backup, TSM initially does one full backup of all information on the server then daily backups based on any changes in the system (new files, deleted files, and altered files). Through TSM, users can also control what files and folders to backup.
 

 Eligibility & Ordering Information

Available To:    All ITS Systems & Campus Departmental Servers.

Request Service:    Submit a work order via MySoft  

  • Include the name of the server and the time of day you would like the TSM backup to run
  • Please be sure include your correct departmental billing code in the work order
  • Assign the work order to NASA

Delivery Time:    Within 2-Business Days.  An ITS representative must install the client software on the system to be backed-up.

Fees:    Based on the amount of data backed up. The rate is $0.05/GB/Month (or $50/TB/Month) or $0.60/GB/Year (or $614.40/TB/Year), averaged monthly. A departmental account is required for monthly billing purposes.
