myLSU Portal: Submitting a myNews Item

 

General Information

LSU Departments and Units may submit News Items to be posted on the myLSU portal landing page in the myNews section. The purpose is to give LSU Departments and Units another way to share news or events with the LSU community. Please submit requests at least 5 Days BEFORE you want the News Item to be posted. 

 

Guidelines for a News Item

All News Items must adhere to the following University Rules & Regulations:

  • Only LSU departments or units can submit a News Item. 
    • News Items may not be submitted by a: 

      • Faculty member (unless on behalf of a department or unit)

      • Staff member (unless on behalf of department or unit) 

      • Student (unless on behalf of department or unit)

      • Student Organization 

      • Sorority or Fraternity 

      • Any group or organization not affiliated with LSU 

      • Businesses 

  • All News Items must be relevant to the myLSU Portal community. 

Submitting a News Item

Submit your News Item request via the form located in the ITS Self-Service Portal: https://itservice.lsu.edu/TDClient/30/Portal/Requests/ServiceDet?ID=610

On the request form you must specify:

  • The URL the News Items will direct the user when the News Item is clicked. 
  • Text to display.
    • Should be a short header or title of the News Item. 
  • Start date you want the News Item posted. 
    • News Items will run for up to 2 weeks at a time, beginning and ending on week days only. 
    • Please include an end date if you want the News Item removed before the 2 weeks are up. 
  • Submit requests at least 5 business days before the News Item is to be posted. 

 

News Items may be approved if the event is of general importance to LSU staff, students, and/or faculty and meets all other requirements. In case of more News Item requests than can be accommodated, preference will be given to requests submitted first.
