Windows 7: Editing the Registry

Once in a while, the user may find it necessary to edit the registry to change Windows 7 configuration. NOTE: Before any registry editing, make sure to back up the entries within the registry.

1. Open the Start menu and type 'regedit' into the search box.

2. Select the program 'regedit' from the list of options displayed.

3. If prompted, select Yes to allow changes to be made to computer.

4. The Registry Editor will now open. In this registry, the user can now navigate every registry entry within the systems folders and sub-folders. After finding the entry, to be edited, right-click on its registry folder. A drop down menu of potential options will now appear.
