SNAP: Activities & Resources: Add a Link to a Website

Instructors are able to display a link to a website that is outside of Moodle. Repeat this process below to add multiple links to external websites.

To add a link to a Website:

1. Log into Moodle and select your course.

2. Scroll to the Bottom of the course page and select Create Learning Activity.

Create Learning Activity button

3. Select URL under the Resources section. Click Add at the bottom of the screen.

4. Assign a Name to this URL. An optional setting is to enter a Description which will display on the overview page for the web-link. Type or paste in the location of the link (URL) in the external URL field.

NOTE: When you paste URLs, make sure there is only one "http://" at the beginning of the address. If you have more than one, your link will not work.

Important Notes

  • If the website DOES NOT open when the link is clicked, it is probably because the Location Address or URL is NOT CORRECT.
  • You can fix this by editing the Link.  To edit the link:
    • Click on the pencil button to edit the URL resource.
      • Pencil button to edit URL resource
    • Make any necessary updates to the website link in the External URL box.

    • Click Save and return to course.
