A book makes it easy for an instructor to create multiple chapters and subchapters of content. For instructions on how to add a book, see SNAP: Activities & Resources: Add a Book.

Book Settings

General Settings

In the General settings, the instructor can designate a title and provide a description of the book.

Appearance Settings

The appearance of the book can be changed so that the chapters are numbered, bulleted, or indented. The style of navigation can be images (a forward/backward arrow to direct to the next/previous chapter), text (the title of the next/previous chapter), or navigation can occur only via the Table of Contents. If the box Custom titles is marked, the header above the chapter can be different than what is in the Table of Contents. This is helpful if the title is long, as it can be shortened in the Table of Contents.

Common Module Settings

These settings specify the visibility of the assignment for students (Hide/Show), and the group mode and grouping can be designated (not necessary for the book module).

Access Restriction Settings

The book can be restricted based upon a date, group, activity completion of another activity/resource in the course, etc.

NOTE: If more than one restriction is added, students must meet EACH of the requirements before the book becomes available.

Activity Completion Settings

By default, students can manually mark the book as complete, but an instructor can change this to be required. If required, the students can be marked complete by viewing the book.

Tags Settings

Tags are keywords that can be added to an activity or resource.
