SNAP: Kaltura: Add Video Files to Kaltura My Media (Students)


As a student you may need to Upload a Video as an assignment if your professor has created a Kaltura Media Assignment. Students have several methods to create and upload media.

 

How to Add Video Files to Kaltura My Media (Students)

1. Log in to Moodle and open the desired course.

2. Select the gear icon (Admin) to the top right, then click Kaltura Course Media under Course Administration.

There are several ways to add media. You may do this by:

  • Media Upload - Upload a video file that has already been created
  • Webcam Recording - Record from a webcam
    • *IMPORTANT NOTE: Kaltura's screen recorder will not be available for new versions of Chrome or Microsoft Edge due to to the fact that they do not support java plug-ins.

 

How to Upload a Video By Media Upload:

1. Click on Add Media on the Kaltura Course Media page.

2. Click the Add New tab on the right of the blue media button and click Media Upload on the list of options.

3. Click the blue button labeled Choose a File to Upload.

4. Select the file you wish to upload from the file browser.

  • Upon selecting a file you will be redirected to the following screen. If you wish to add a description, enter it into the textbox offered. You can also add tags to make searching for this upload easier. When you have your settings ready, click the blue Save button at the bottom of the window.

5. To submit this video to a Kaltura Media Assignment, follow the instructions at SNAP: Kaltura: Submit Media to a Kaltura Assignment (Students).

 

How to Upload a Video by Webcam Recording:

1. Click on Add Media on the Kaltura Course Media page.

2. Click the Add New tab on the right of the blue media button and click Webcam Recording on the list of options.

3. Click the Allow option in the Adobe Flash Player Settings to allow access to your camera and microphone.

4. Once you complete the recording of the video, click Next. Add a Title and a Description to your video. Select Save at the bottom when done.

5. To submit this video to a Kaltura Media Assignment, follow the instructions at SNAP: Kaltura: Submit Media to a Kaltura Assignment (Students).
