Windows 10: Backing Up an Entry into the Registry

Before changing any values in the registry of Windows 10, it is a good idea to back up the current working values in case of malfunction. These steps will allow the user to back up registry values. NOTE: To access the Registry Editor, the user must have administrator privileges.

1. Click the Start menu and type 'regedit' into the search box.

2. Select the program from the list labeled 'run'.

3. Type in "regedit" into the Run bar and click OK.

4. Find the folder within the Registry Editor that is to be edited. Right click the desired folder and select Export from the resulting drop down menu.

5. Save the registry file in an accessible place for later use.
