Moodle 3: Activities & Resources: Orphaned Activities

In Moodle, if you have a course that contains more sections / weeks than are set in the Course Format settings, they will appear as "orphaned activities". This often happens when importing or restoring a course, as Moodle sets up courses to have 10 sections / weeks by default. You will notice these activities if you have your course in "edit mode" (click the 'Edit' button at the top right of your course).

To Show Orphaned Activities in your Moodle Course:

1. Click Edit Settings in the Administration Block on the left-hand side of your screen.

2. Locate the Course Format section. Change the Number of Sections to the number of weeks / topics presented in your course.

3. Click Save and Display at the bottom of the screen to apply changes.
