Moodle 3: Activities & Resources: Reply to a Forum Post

Forums allow instructors and students to securely communicate (asychronously) with each other within a Moodle course. Once a forum is created within a Moodle course, participants will be able to post to it and may be given the option to reply to others' posts.  

How to Reply or Post to a Forum Discussion 

  1. Log in to Moodle and select the course.

2. Click on the link to enter the Forum.

3. Click on the discussion post that you would like to reply to.

4. Click the Reply link within a particular topic of discussion to open the reply text box.

5. Fill in the Subject and Message fields.

6. Select your subscription preferences: Select the checkbox if you would would like to recieve email notifications when a post is made to the forum.

7. To add an Attachment:  (OPTIONAL)

a.  Click the Add button.

b.  Click Upload a file.

8. Click the Post to forum button at the bottom of the page.

9. Click Continue to recieve confirmation that the post was successfully added.    (You have 1-HOUR to edit the post before it is finalized and e-mailed to forum subscribers.)
