Kaltura: Add Video Files to Kaltura My Media (Students)

There may be broken links in this article, the GROK staff has been notified and is working to resolve the issue.

As a student you may need to Upload a Video as an assignment if your professor has created a Kaltura Media Assignment. Students have several methods to create and upload media.


How to Add Video Files to Kaltura My Media (Students)

1. Log into Moodle and select your course. 

2. Click on Course Tools at the bottom left of the screen.

3. Select Kaltura Course Media.

There are several ways to add media. You may do this by:

  • Media Upload - Upload a video file that has already been created
  • Webcam Recording - Record from a webcam
  • Kaltura Capture - Record your screen, screen & webcam, webcam, or just audio
    • IMPORTANT NOTE: Kaltura's screen recorder will not be available for new versions of Chrome or Microsoft Edge due to to the fact that they do not support java plug-ins. Please use another browser, such as Firefox, if this is the case.


How to Upload a Video By Media Upload:

1. Click the Add Media tab on the right.

2. Click on the Add New drop down and then Media Upload.

3. Click the blue button labeled Choose a File to Upload.

4. Select the file you wish to upload from the file browser.

  • Upon selecting a file you will be redirected to the following screen. If you wish to add a description, enter it into the textbox offered. You can also add tags to make searching for this upload easier. When you have your settings ready, click the blue Save button at the bottom of the window.

5. To submit this video to a Kaltura Media Assignment, follow the instructions at Submit Media to a Kaltura Assignment (Students).
