Microsoft Security Essentials: Removing Potentially Harmful Software

To Remove Potentially Harmful Software:

1. When Microsoft Security Essentials displays a notification message that a potentially harmful piece of software has been detected, select Clean Computer.

2. Microsoft Security Essentials will then remove the threat(s) and will notify the user when the computer has finished being cleaned.

3. To learn more about the threats that Microsoft Security Essentials has detected, select the History tab, and choose All detected items.

4. If all of the detected items do not appear, click View Details. The user may then be prompted for an administrator password.

NOTE: Microsoft Security Essentials only removes a piece of the infected file, during computer cleanup, not the entire file.
