Microsoft Security Essentials: Real Time Definitions

  


Real-time protection allows Microsoft Security Essentials to monitor computers, on their network, constantly and notify the users when potential risks are attempting to install themselves. Because of the real-time protection's ability to protect the computer, it is best to keep it always running. If the real-time protection gets turned off, Microsoft Security Essentials will alert you, and your protection status will be changed to "At Risk."

When Microsoft Security Essentials, real-time protection identifies a potential threat, a notification window with options will appear.

The following options will be available:

1. Clean Computer, which will delete the questionable item from the computer

2. Select Show details to expand the Potential threat details window. The user can then choose what action to take to the selected item.
