Automatic Call Distribution (ACD)

A tool used to disperse incoming calls to call-center agents with specific skills in a Call Center. The calls for the Call Center are placed in a queue by the phone system. The ACD holds queued calls in a First In, First Out order until agents become available. (See  Contact Center).
