Windows Vista: Disabling Hibernation

To disable hibernation:

1. Click Start and then All Programs. Next, scroll down to Accessories.

2. Right Click on the Command Prompt, and scroll down to Run Administrator.

3. The Command Prompt window should open. Type: powercfg -H off in the box.

To enable hibernation

If, after you have disabled hibernation you wish to re-enable it, proceed as follows:

1. Click Start and then All Programs. Next scroll down to Accessories.

2. Right Click on the Command Prompt, and scroll down to Run Administrator.

3. The Command Prompt window should open. Type: powercfg -H on.
