Microsoft Excel 2007: Making a Log-Log Graph
Archived Historical Data: Not Actively Maintained.
This article will explain how to create a log-log graph in Excel 2007. To create a log-log graph in Microsoft Excel, you must first create an XY (scatter) graph. You must use an XY (scatter) graph because it is the only type of graph in Excel 2007 that will allow you to make both the graph's x and y axes logarithmic scale.
To make an XY (scatter) graph and format it as a log-log graph, follow these steps:
1. Select the data that you want to put into a log-log graph.

2. Insert a Scatter graph.

3. Right click both axes and click Format Axis.

4. In the Format Axis box, within the Axis Options tab, check the Logarithmic scale checkbox.

After doing that for both axes, you will have set up a log-log graph. Any functions of the form y = ax^b should appear as a straight line on the log-log graph.
