Microsoft Outlook 2007: Fixing Dead Links

After an upgrade to Internet Explorer 7, an error may occur when viewing hyperlinks in Outlook Express. If experiencing such an error, complete the following steps:
1. Open My Computer from the Start menu or desktop.
2. Click Tools to open the Tools menu.
3. Click Folder Options.
4. Switch to the File Types tab.
5. Locate the Registered File Types list.
6. Click (NONE) URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol.

7. Click Advanced, this will bring up the Edit File Type dialog box.
8. Note all the values presented by the dialog box in Notepad or a piece of paper.
9. In the new dialog box, click Edit.
10. Type "Open" in the Action box.
11. Type "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" -nohome in the "Application used..." box.
12. If the Use DDE check box is empty, click it to select.
13. Type "%1",,-1,0,,,, in the DDE Message box.
14. Type IExplore in the Application box.
15. Make certain the DDE Application Not Running box is empty. Delete anything found in this field.
16. Type WWW_OpenURL in the Topic box.

17. Click OK twice to close the dialog box.
18. In the Registered File Types list, click (NONE) URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol with Privacy.
19. Click Advanced.
20. Repeat steps 8-13.
21. Click OK.
If the above steps do not solve the issue, replace the new values of the Edit fields with those noted in step 8. Move on to the second method explained below:
1. Open My Computer.
2. Click Tools.
3. Click Folder Options.
4. Switch to the File Types tab.
5. Click (NONE) URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol in the Registered File Types list.
6. Click Advanced.
7. Click Edit in the Edit File Types box.
8. In the Application used to perform action box replace "-nohome" with "%1."

9. Click OK twice.
10. Repeat steps 7-9 with the (NONE) URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol with Privacy values.
11. Click OK.
