PAWS: How to Schedule Courses
|
|
|
|
You can schedule courses for the coming semester, session, and/or intersession by accessing the Schedule Request from your PAWS account.
Click on this video on How to Schedule Courses
Important things to know before scheduling:
- PAWS Registration can be used by any university student that has a PAWS account.
- Registering through PAWS is feature that is high in demand. For these reasons, there is a ten minute time-out for each time you access the schedule request.
- If you try to use PAWS Registration and do not see the Registration Services option on your PAWS desktop, please call the Help Desk to add this important feature. The Help Desk can be reached at 578-3375 from 8:00 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday.
- Since PAWS is able to access your personal information at LSU, please remember to completely exit out of your web browser to avoid possible alteration of information by another person.
To access the Course Scheduler:
1. Log in to your PAWS desktop.
2. In the PAWS Navigation Pane, click on the Registration Services link:

3. Click on the link labeled Schedule Request.
4. Use the drop-down menus to choose the campus and semester you wish to schedule for. Then click View Schedule Request.

5. To add a course, simply enter the Department, Course Number, and Section Number. If you do not know the Section Number simply click on the next to the text box. If you need to know if the course has any prerequisites then click on Check Prerequisites.

The Section Number is the actual class (e.g. class time, teacher, building, etc.). When you click on the a list of available classes will appear at the bottom of the page. Click on the desired class, and it will take you back to the schedule request screen with the Section Number filled in. Click Add Course, and the course will be added to your Current Schedule.

If the course is not available for the semester or is full, a red heading will appear at the top of the screen stating the course is no longer available. If you desire to drop a course you added, click on the Drop button.

6. Repeat Step 5 to add more courses.
Note: When the schedule request states a class section(s) has special emphasis it refers to the class above it. The classes below have the special emphasis on the rhetoric of popular culture.

Note: If LSU has not received payment of tuition by the "purge date," all scheduled courses will be automatically dropped from the student's schedule. The student will then have to reschedule. The student may not be able to register for the same courses that were previously selected, due to other students wait-listing the course. To avoid this unfortunate circumstance, refer to the LSU academic calendar and make payments using the Fee Bill application on PAWS prior to the purge date.
