Snow Leopard: Before Upgrading
|

|
Here are some tips on how you can get your Mac ready to upgrade to Snow Leopard!
1. Before you upgrade to Snow Leopard, you should back up all of your important files. If you already using Time Machine on your Mac, check to verify you have a new backup completed before you begin the upgrade process.
2. You can clean up your startup by reducing the number of items that open automatically when you log in to your Mac. Open System Preferences and select Accounts and then Login Items. Use the (-) button to remove any programs that you do not want opening automatically when you log in.

3. Next you should open your Applications folder and move anything you don't use anymore to Trash. By deleting Apps you don't use anymore, you will free up some space on your hard drive. You can also look through your Documents and delete any files that you no longer need.
4. You can also run Disk Utility. This will verify and repair disk permissions and also verify and repair the disk itself. Please note that it takes a good amount of time to run Disk Utility and you must close all other applications before you begin. To open Disk Utility, first go to Applications and then select Utilities.
