OpenCL is a new technology in Snow Leopard that enables developers to utilize the computing power that exists in the graphics processor and use it for any application. Once developers start using OpenCL, a wide range of applications will see vast improvement in speed. OpenCL stands for Open Computing Language. OpenCL is a C-based programming language and its makeup will be common to programmers. They can easily use Xcode developer tools to alter their programs to work with OpenCL. Also it's important to note that AMD, Intel, and NVIDIA all support OpenCL.
