Snow Leopard: 64-bit Technology

64-bit technology is no longer used by only scientists and engineers. All users can now take advantage of the 64-bit technology that enables your Mac to absorb massive amounts of memory and makes everything from simple everyday applications to the most complex run faster. Mac OS X was already 64-bit capable in several ways, but Snow Leopard takes it to the next level by rewriting almost all system applications such as Finder, Mail, Safari, iCal, and iChat to reflect the 64-bit technology. Also the 64-bit applications in Snow Leopard are now more secure and have more protection from hackers and malware.
